(Journal) Making Firefox Better

I was an avid Firefox user when a friend asked me to try Google Chrome. I gave it a shot for a week, installing the PortableApps.com version of it on my USB chip and getting as into it as I could. I added as many of the extensions that I had on Firefox as were available plus some, uploaded all my bookmarks, etc and went for it.

After the first day I was hooked. Sure I missed the Awesome Bar, but the way extensions worked, the fluid motion of opening a new tab, the simple, clean interface, it all came together to make one sweet browser. After the week was over I switched back to Firefox, Chrome's features still fresh in my head, and had to admit to myself that I was at a crux: Which one?

So, since I'm still a Firefox supporter at heart, I feel I have to propose a list of changes to Firefox that would make just about every Google Chrome user switch in a heartbeat.
  • Make it optional to have your Bookmark Bar appear inside a new tab rather than in your toolbars.
  • Create a toolbar for Add-Ons
  • Give Add-Ons the ability to load their own local webpage in a mini window.
  • Ask users whether they want to give Add-Ons certain privelages (such as exporting collected data).
I will add more as I think of them. If you have any, please comment!
